Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a rare but serious condition associated with COVID-19 wherein multiple organ systems can become inflamed. While we do not yet know what causes MIS-C, we know many children with MIS-C were infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 or had been exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case.
